Many Bhutanese refuges of Nepalese origin became to come to the United States in late 1990s, thanks to United States for its generosity, more than Nepal could give to these people. Various efforts were made to create a platform to represent the need and the interests of these folks which led to form ABA or Association of Bhutanese in America in the month of July of 2007 in Washington DC, USA.
