The Swiss-Nepalese Society or SNS, was founded by Swiss aid workers in 1971, returning to their homeland after years of active work in Nepal. SNS is a non-political, non-profit organisation based in Switzerland. Since then, many have joined the SNS, with present number of members reaching to 340. SNS members are driven by general interest in social, cultural and economical development of N-epal and it’s people.
Some of the goals and activities of SNS are: To proivde support to Nepalese and friends of Nepal in Switzerland. To provide up to date information about Nepal. Support projects to help under privileged people in Nepal, work with organisations following similar goals to SNS. Publishing “Namaskar” newsletter once every three months. Organising of events and activites to promote Nepalese culture in Switzerland. Maintenance of a collection of books on Nepal at the Central Library in Zurich.
