Posted 21 February, 2010 – in: Gurkhas, Nepal - Back Home
The old lady here is Mrs. Limbu (Limbuni) she was the chief guest on the day Lumley visited Dharan. Her husband Mr. Limbu had joined the British Gurkhas before WW2. Soon after their marriage the husband was in WW2 fighting for the British crown along with the fellow Gurkha soldiers. No one knows if he is still alive. Even till this day she is waiting for her husband. Does the British Government know about her husband’s status? Does the British Government provide her with pension and widow or family benefits? No, nothing from the British Government, no letters, no pension, no help or allowances from the British Crown/Government for whom her husband fought and served as a Gurkha soldier. Her husband did not hold anything back: life, his newly married wife, families. This old lady is still waiting for her husband with great hope that one day he will come home. This hope of her’s has turned from hours to days, weeks, months, years and may be her lifetime. Today she lives in a small village called Gacchia in Morang District in Eastern Nepal. If you want photos and documentary on her then feel free to contact:

This is NOT a British story.
This is a Nepalese Story.
This is the story of Gurkhas and their Wives and Families.
All the young Gurkhas these days are happy to settle in the United Kingdom with their families. But the real and brave Gurkhas the old folks who fought for the British and their interest in WW I, WW II and Malaya who have also won VCs and many other recommendations has been neglected. What about the Gurkha widows?
Would be nice for young Gurkhas to be grateful and consider the older Gurkhas and their widows. The Gurkahs are taught to respect and obey their senior even if they are senior by 1 number. Wish these young Gurkhas would bring this principle into use in regards to older retired Gurkhas and Gurkha widows’ need.
But what is the British Government doing going through useless time wasting procedures? Gurkhas has been loyal, faithful and honest to the British people and the Government they have elected. Now, the British people and the Government should also do the same in return, be honest and faithful in Gurkhas pension and privileges.

Mini Nepal is a Nepalese Restaurant in Singapore. It is located in Upper Dickson Road, Little India, as the same says it, Little India truly it is like India and you will find lots of Indians and feels like you are actually in India. Some of the streets are so dirty specially around Mustafa area you won’t believe that you are in Singapore. Which is little contrary to what people tells you about Singapore as a clean city country. Nothing much about this Nepalese restaurant in its website, but hope they will update it soon.

Joanna Lumley - Little Known British Actress
Posted 10 February, 2010 – in: Gurkhas, Nepal - Back Home
Joanna waving hands to the crowd: Gurkhas, ex-Gurkahs and the families of Gurkhas
Lumley’s visit last year was supposed to be a private one. But the news spread out amongst the Gurkhas and their families of her arrival. The Gurkhas and their wives and family member from various parts of Nepal turned up at the Kathmandu International Airport to meet and greet her. Media was made aware of this as a result all sorts of journos turned up at the scene for the reporting. Ms Lumley, the little known British actress was walking the walk of her life like a famous celebrity on a red carpet sort feeling as she landed in Kathmandu.
Oh boy, she was like the head of a state. She met Nepalese PM and everyone that’s above, below and beside, inside, front and behind him. After 2-3 day she was supposed to arrive at Dharan at 12 noon visiting Damak. Well she was adopting Nepalese culture of being late and not on time. She and her team arrived only at around 4-5pm. We waited for her for hours to take this shot of Ms. Lumley. Program went on but as it was planned…

Nepalese people (anybody) specially if you are in low income or living a student life in Australia, but still desire to travel and see Australia and make full use of your time and stay in Australia then I would suggest budget airlines will be the best way for you to fly around Australia. Booking online will be the quickest, cheapest and the easiest way. But remember always be in time or be ahead of time unless you wanna miss your flight. These airlines prefer Australian time over Nepalese time. Airfare to major state capitals varies starting from around AUD $ 40.00 and above. You can choose from Virgin, Tiger, JetStar etc. Well hope you will make the most of it. All you have to do is wait on the que never like before, just the like people in the photo above. But, its all worth it as it will definately works out to be a lot cheaper and comfortable than bus or a train to interstate.

Nepal is Nepal

Kalapani the heart of Nepal and the Nepalese people. It was, is and will always be Nepal and of the Nepalese people. Any illegal entry or camp settlement of Indian troops is illegal. India is for Indians and Nepal is for Nepalese. This is really simple, short and sweet and lets keep it that way.
Let there be brotherly love in our border between Nepal and India - Just like US and Canada. Lest some cold relation might takes place as Nepal and the Nepalese people will not hesitate to extend their hands in closer relation with China and Pakistan and turning their back to India. This is what India fears deep in their heart, even though they will not confess externally.
It is good to have neighbour. But good neighbours are always good to have. “Thou shalt love thy neighbours.” India should learn this lest their will be another battle ground on the north like they have with Pakistan and China, who are technically always at war.
