Thank you for your comments regarding Nepalese students coming to Fiji to get higher education at the tertiary institutions.
I met one of those students who is here and he advised me that his parents had paid over USD14,000.00 through an agent in India. He is a student in tourism industry. I was quite shocked at this revelation as you will understand that above amount when converted to Fiji Dollars will be over FJD24,000.00. Accommodation, etc. is not included. Whilst it is understood that the tuition fee structure for foreign students in Fiji is higher but I feel that this young mans parents were ripped off by the Indian agent.
So, please Nepali brothers and sisters be careful and my suggestion is that you liaise directly with the institutions you want to study in Fiji. few institutions in Fiji where you will get a straight forward deals are: Fiji National University, University of the South Pacific (a regional institution) and the recent established University of Fiji. Please do research on internet and contact them directly instead of coming through agents. Some agents will rip you off.I am not saying all as there are still good people around in this world.
