This names of place has been passed down from my grandfather to my father and I am the youngest in the family. My grandfather & father are no longer alive. And they were uneducated thus the information was passed down verbally from my grandfather to my father and then to me and my siblings. My grandfather came to He came to Fiji in 1894 at the age of 22 years from Calcutta, India where he was a Gurkha Soldier in Indian Army. He called himself a PALTANIYA. A word which you may be familiar with and has to do with Gurkha soldiers.
