Nepalese Embassy – Korea

Korea South, one of the two Korea in the Korean Peninsula is a democratic nation, while the North is socialist, which is more secret and closed to most of the countries of the world. Korea South, was divided from the North after the Korean War in 1953, even today these two countries, technically are still at war. One of the world’s most volatile and heavily armed borders. It’s DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) also known as 38th parallel, which runs across the peninsula, roughly dividing the Peninsula into half. It is about 4 kilometers wide and about 250 Kilometers long.
Nepal established it diplomatic ties with Korea South in late 60s, in 1969 and has continued to do so with exchange of diplomatic visits and messages between this two nations at various levels. Other involvement and cooperation between this two countries also includes, trade, tourism, economic development, constructions, road, infrastructure and hydropower development.
Beside, Korea South has also been one of the major destinations for overseas employment for Nepalese. Many Nepalese from various parts of Nepal are working, living and studying in Korea South. To represent Nepal and the local Nepalese living in Korea, Nepalese Embassy was established in Seoul, Korea in March 2007.
