Bhutanese Resettlement – Australia
Listed in: Australia, Nepalese Community

Bhutanese Resettlement or Bhutanese-resettlement.info is not really a website founded, run or operated by the Nepalese. But is a website run by Australian on behalf of the Nepalese people from Bhutan to help and assist them in resettlement in Australia especially in Brisbane Queensland.
This website is to help the some of 110,000 Nepalese people displaced from Bhutan by the Bhutanese government in the early 1990s of being Nepalese so came to Nepal for help, shelter and protection. They were driven out from Bhutan their birthplace and Nepal (Nepalese Government) would not accept or recognise their own fellow Nepalese or offer required help and assistance when most needed.
Seventeen long years they were in dusty floor bamboo walled thatched roofed huts. Even for 17 long years they waited patiently to go back to Bhutan their home but no agreement or acceptance by Bhutan and neither any acceptance from Nepal. But after 17 long years in the year 2007 Nepal finally agreed to let these people go as third countries like Australia 5000, USA 60,000, New Zealand, Canada, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark 5000 and recently UK has offered to receive some of these Bhutanese Nepalese.
In Australia the largest resettled Bhutanese are living in South Australia around Adelaide. While some smaller groups are in Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Sydney, Tasmania and some in North Brisbane (Bribie Island) Queensland.
This is what this website is all about, giving a helping hand to the people, one human to another fellow human, people forsaken by their own country (Bhutan) and their own people (Nepal).
