Calgary Nepalese Community Association is a website of Nepalese association of Nepalese people of Nepalese origin, their descendants, spouses and friends in Calgary, Canada. The association first started and was officially registered in 1985 by handful of Nepalese medical students at the University of Calgary, with the help of Canadian friends.
When the students returned to their home country, the association became dormant and inactive for some many years. In the early 1990s Calgary saw the arrival of new Nepalese students and families some to study at the University of Calgary and others grabbing the opportunity of skilled migrants, making Calgary their city of choice to settle in Canada. Due to increase in Nepalese population in Calgary, public meeting was held by the Nepalese in the year 2001 and the meeting decided to reactivate the association. Thus, the Calgary Nepalese Community Association came into being as it is today. The association organises varieties of events and programs, celebration of Nepalese social, cultural festivals and events. The association also organises Nepali language class twice a month each class for about 2 hours.
