Posted 8 November, 2008 – in: Gurkhas

NepaleseAbroad.com --- Gurkhas! Gurkha soldier from 2nd Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles of British army was killed in action by the enemy fire in southern Afghanistan. The soldier was killed on duty, while patrolling Musa Qala area in southern part of Afghanistan. He received medical treatment at the site, but later died from the wounds. Next of kin have been informed of the incident.
Brigadier General Richard Blanchette said, deepest sympathies to soldier’s family and friends and died honourably, helping to bring security to Afghanistan. And spokeswoman for Task Force Helmand - Paula Rowe said, "death of this soldier has left us all deeply saddened."
Nice words, but let us see what will the Ministry of Defence (MOD) do for the soldier who died in action, defending the British interest and decision in Afghanistan? What will be done for his family and his loved ones back home? This has always been the story of the Gurkhas’s and the story of their loved ones and their little ones.
Although served equally as their fellow British soldiers, in some cases even more just to be accepted in the army to prove they are soldiers. The story of Gurkhas’ has never been like the British ones, that has good and happy ending with good name, good benefits and payouts. But, still the Gurkhas goes on to be a loyal soldier serving the British Crown - putting their lives in the line of fire in the interest of British Government and for the safety, security and prosperity of all the 60 million British citizens and their future generations…!
