South Korea is one of the two country in Korean peninsula. Korea divided after the Korean War in the early-mid 50s, after 1953. North part of Korea backed by Russia then USSR became North Korea, communist state and the southern part of Korea backed by United States and other western country favouring democracy became South Korea. After 50 years even today this two country are technically still at war, border between this two country is well known as 38 parallel, DMZ, full of uncleared mine after the Korean war, area could be 2-4km wide and 200-300km long dividing the peninsula. Korea South is more of open to global community, democracy and modern technology and more job opportunities, which has made a clear way and open door for many Nepalese to work and live in South Korea. Nepal-South Korea Friendship Society (NKFS), was established by Nepalese students, studying in Rebuplic of Korea (South) to established a connection among Nepalese people living in Korea and between Nepalese and Korean people who have or are interested in contrubiting to Nepal’s progress and development according to their ablility.
The purpose and activities of this association is to take the existing relation between the two nations to the next level, increasing cultural and educational exchanges between the two nations. But, the major objective of NKFS is to provide opportunity for all the Nepalese living in Korea South. Providing help and assistance to fellow Nepalese living in Korea in times of their need, sickness and accident.
Beside being active in Korea, NKFS are also involved to a certain degree in Nepal to help underprivileged and needy people like education of orphans, raising funds among Nepalese living in Korea to support the victims of natural disaster.
