Gurkhas in the heart of UK?
Listed in: United Kingdom

Gurkhas are one of the most famous, fearless, bravest and loyal known soldier in the world, who are linked and has been serving in the British Army for over 200 years. WW I, WW II, Borneo in 1960s against the Indonesian protecting Brunei, for which I am sure the present Royal family of Brunei is greatful , Falklands, Eastern Europe, Afganistan, Iraq and the list goes on. Over 200,000s have served in the British Army. 1000s died serving in the British Army and British interest, many are not even listed/recorded. About 3,500 are still serving in the British Army, whose loyalty exceeds till today.
These are some of the many records and proof that Gurkhas from the begining had their strong ties with UK and it’s people. Another well known loyalty and strong ties is 13 (VCs) Victoria Crosses received by the Gurkhas, the highest military award received for valour -in the face of the enemy. Gurkhas serving in the British Empire/British Army didn’t receive Gallipoli, North African, Hong Kong, Malaya/Singapore or Burmese Crosses instead they received Victoria Cross for their bravery.
Now, these Gurkhas who served in the British Army, stationed 1000s of miles away from their father, mother, wives, families and their loved ones in the interest and well being of British Governement and it’s people, many times risking their lives-hanging between life and death are now retired. All they want is to be part of the country they served and the people whose interest and freedom they protected.
Many comes to UK as a refuges from various parts of: Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa and other parts of the world, who may have little or no ties with UK and yet been granted UK citizenship. Whereas, for Gurkhas who have strong ties with UK, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th generations of ties, taking us back over 200 years, as many have served in the British Army and are follwed by the future generations. Yet, 200 years of ties seems to be insufficient for present British Government to received and accepted the Gurkhas and welcome them to stay in the United Kingdom? This is one of the reason Gurkhas and their family memebers are knocking (as all gentlemen should do & not blowing up) at the door of British High Court. Will they open?
Will the United Kingdom and her people understand this?
